Sven B. Schreiber While waiting for James Hamilton's "Yorkshire Suite" to be released (expected in roughly a month), I've bought this great 5-track EP now. Although the music has been retrieved from "Lost Tapes", it's far from being scrap. On the contrary... I'm glad that these lost tapes - or unused hardisk files, to be more precise - have resurfaced, because they contain more of those diligently composed and skillfully arranged big band tracks James Hamilton is renowned for. Favorite track: One Trip.

bradenmccloskey I adore this album. "Prayer" is like jazz meets Eric Whitacre and I find myself listening to it on repeat. Favorite track: Prayer.

about

This album is the first in a small collection of long forgotten recordings collecting digital dust on my hard drive. Finally collated together and given their place in the world......on another hard drive, on amazon S3 servers.

Lost Tapes is a combination of recordings from January 2013 and a live recording which I have no idea from when or where it came.

Scores and parts for all the compositions can be downloaded for "name your price" from the online shop on my website.

James Hamilton Jazz Orchestra Leeds

Northern Irish born, Leeds based composer/trumpet player. The orchestra was set up ages ago and has been the agent of ruin on my life ever since. I got into jazz for the money, fame and girls, unfortunately I was well over half a century too late. In 2011 the orchestra won a British Composers Award, 2 Jazz Yorkshire awards and a partridge in a pear tree, the search for money and fame continues. ... more
